The MIRA Story
As with many innovative ideas, MIRA Measure’s personal story begins back in the time when Peter, the CEO of MIRA Measure, was working in the autonomous driving industry. As an expert in computer vision and with a background in machine learning, he was working on monitoring lanes with a special camera mechanism - so-called stereo cameras - for a company which developed autonomous vehicles. The main idea behind the detection technology was that two cameras were tracking the highway simultaneously.
My friend, who was also my co-worker, asked me one day if I could create stereo processing for smartphones. Yes, of course - I answered, but back then I wasn’t sure about the perfect method.
Peter soon realized that if a person steps in front of a mirror and takes a picture of themselves, they receive the two images that are required for stereo vision. This methodology was the only one of its kind back then, so Peter immediately applied for a patent. It quickly turned out that this technology could be utilized in the lens fitting and measuring sector - a concept which was also validated by professional opticians. In the last few years, MIRA Measure products have received international recognition - from Japan, through the CEE European countries, to the United States.
